Turtle Cake

  • 1 package German chocolate cake mix without pudding
  • 1 large bag (30-40) caramels
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup margerine

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly grease one 9x13 inch pan.

Prepare cake mix according to package directions and pour 1/2 of the batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for 15 minutes (will be gooey).

In a saucepan melt caramels, margarine, and milk until caramels are melted. Pour have of this over partly-baked cake. Sprinkle half the chocolate chips and chopped pecans over caramel mixture. Pour remaining cake batter on top and bake for 25 minutes.

Top with remainder of caramel mixture, chocolate chips and pecans.

Refrigerate.
