Texas Cake
Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sour milk*
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
Mix together flour, sugar, eggs, sour milk, soda and salt.
Put margarine, water, and cocoa in saucepan and bring it to a boil. Add it to flour mixture.
Place in large greased cookie sheet and bake at 350F for 20 minutes or until done. Cool cake.
Icing
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 3 1/2 cups icing sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- pecan pieces (optional)
To make icing: heat margarine until melted, remove and add 3½ cups icing sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Pour icing over cake while hot. Sprinkle nuts on.
*To make sour milk add ½ tablespoon vinegar to ½ cup sweet milk.
